2.2 How To Add an Object to the Diagram

To add a diagram right click on the model or package in the Model Explorer and use Add Diagram, Freeform Diagram. You can then fill in the name. To add anything the the diagram, you can bring it, or it's parent, from the palette using a select and click. Make sure that you are using the modeling perspective. The palette should be available to the right hand side of the screen.

The palette has several drawers, each named for a UML diagram type. We will only use Class Diagram and Component Diagram options in the 3.9 J2EE transform. To access items from the class diagram drawer, click on the drawer to open it. This will make items such as class and association available.

Objects such as classes have several types of creation options. Selecting class creation and the clicking on the diagram will add a class to the diagram. To change the class creation options, use (click) the small triangle to the right of the class creation draw. A set of options appears; for JeeWiz, only the first two choices, a basic class and a stereotyped class are of use.

The main items used by JeeWiz are all stereotyped classes or components (in the component diagram drawer) or associations (class diagram). The association options you might want to use are plain associations to join entities or dataviews, or directed associations to link pages. To add an association between classes, select the association from the palette then draw the association between the two classes.

All other items needed are attributes or operations of one of the stereotyped classes and
